In 1999, I was fortunate enough to win the World Championship of Public Speaking. A few months later I got a call from a guy who said, “Craig, this is Wade Randolph. I’d like you to coach me on my speech.”
I said, “Wade, I’m just a speaker. I’m not a speech coach. I wouldn’t even know where to start.”
He said, “I’ll pay you.”
I said, “That’s a good place to start.”
I started coaching Wade and I had very little idea what I was doing. However, Wade kept coming back for more. As I worked with him, I started figuring out processes and formulas and tools he could use to succeed on stage. Then I started getting more and more clients and I was astonished and excited to see that these processes worked for every one of them.
Keep in mind about 90% of what I was trying, didn’t work. However, 10% did and, eventually, through a process of elimination, I threw out what didn’t work and kept what did and that grew and grew and grew.
Today, more than 2 decades later, I’ve spoken in more than 20 countries and worked with thousands of speakers around the globe many of whom have used these same processes and formulas and tools to reach massive levels of success including earning 7-figure incomes to winning the World Championship of Public Speaking to building information empires.
